Biography

Giovanna Zanchetta (1994) is an Italian choreographer, dancer and performer based in Rome. She graduated with honours in Performing Arts from Roma Tre University and works as a freelance artist between Italy and Denmark, developing her own artistic projects while collaborating with international artists and companies.

Her artistic practice explores the body as a site of relation and transformation through an interdisciplinary approach that brings together contemporary dance, physical theatre, vocal practice and visual arts. Her movement language emerges from the encounter between contemporary dance and performance practices rooted in Butō and Third Theatre, shaping a fluid and experimental artistic approach.

In 2020 she founded Overlimbs Collective, an evolving artistic organism that brings together dancers, musicians, filmmakers and photographers, into a research and creation in the field of contemporary performance. She is also co-founder of Collettivo Erratico, a Trieste-based artistic collective fostering multidisciplinary performance practices and collaborative artistic projects. Alongside her own creations, she currently collaborates as a performer with Vàli Theatre Lab (Denmark) and Teatro Ebasko (Rome), and has previously worked with Uscite di Emergenza Dance Company and NTL – Odin Teatret, further developing her practice in site-specific performance.

In 2021–2022 she facilitated the Theatre-Dance Laboratory for the Performing Arts Department (DAMS) at Roma Tre University. This experience led to the development of a series of workshops dedicated to the sharing and experimentation of embodied and performative practices.

Her works have been presented at national and international festivals, including Dominio Pubblico (2021), Overground – Teatro Palladium (2023), Japanese Ghost (2023), ScenArte – International Urban Theatre Festival (2023–2024), Romaeuropa Festival (2024), and Transit Next Forum Festival – Women in Action (2025–2026).
